Rod-Bits:
Bear Claw style latches are often considered a "commodity item". Like bread and milk, almost everybody sells them. So you should just go looking for the best price, right? Not totally. Are all loaves of bread or containers of milk the same? No way! You have to look at the product and read the labels.
We make sure that our latches have internally threaded mounting holes and double lever releases for horizontal or vertical release motion - both of which give you a better latch. Do theirs have that? Look at the edges of the rotor and trip mechanism. Ours are ground smooth, which greatly improves the operation of the latch both opening and closing. Do theirs have that? And do they have all of the other options to go with the latches, like Stainless Steel Striker Bolts in two sizes? Mounting Plates? Cage Nuts? Door Prop Rods? Stainless Steel Bolts? or two different Cable Installation Kits? Probably not. But that's what makes the difference between someone who looks at an item as a "commodity" and us, who consider Latches to be one of the key safety related items that you can install in your street rod.
